it was so heavy and hard to carry. it dropped once and got dented beyond repair. the screw top was horridly inconvenient. should have spent more money on the SIGG…

You wonder why it is so much more expensive to purchase a SIGG over an OGGI? That’s because OGGI is made in China…with all of the negatives that brings. SIGG has a US connection–they have a subsidiary in Connecticut–and are based in Switzerland, where human rights abuses, shoddy construction, and unsafe materials and paint are not things you have to worry about.

the design & look are good, but I could not use a bottle that has a cap made of cheap plastic that tastes like mold after 2 days of use. I washed it like a maniac but no use. water tasted disgusting, so it ended up in the recycle bin. A waste of money.

Although I have my complaints, this was the bottle I purchased to replace my nalgene bottle that had gotten, well, icky. I have two: a green and a silver, and both have served me well. They don’t leak, clean well, fit in the holder in my bike, is much easier to drink of of than the most common nalgene bottle (although I had one that was much more efficient, the bottle was smaller and I need a lot of water every day-I use two of these while at work/class), and is pretty light when empty (for those complaining about the full weight, come on guys. It carries 26 ounces of water, so it will weigh accordingly. You can’t have a lighter bottle that carries the same amount of water, so what’s the issue?).

Here are the issues I’ve had:

-I find taking off and removing the cap is tedious. The screw cap is not one that requires one fluid movement, and is too bulky to untwist without sticking your finger in the hole and using your wrist to ratchet the thing around. This takes a lot more time than I’d like, but I can deal. I think some sort of flip top may be best- the cheapest of my nalgenes had a much more efficient lid. They are also pretty difficult to put back on, especially if the caribiner is still on the top because it makes it unevenly weighted.

-When the bottle is full it requires a lot of concentration to keep from hitting my teeth against the hard aluminum (this may be because of how heavy all the water is, especially when the force of it rushes to the front). When they do hit, it HURTS!

-The bottle sweats a LOT when full of ice water. I have to either wrap it in paper towels or use a backpack with an outside pocket to bring it to class, although i suppose a bottle cozy may solve some of this.

-Related to the last one, liquids become room temperature rather quickly because of the thin aluminum that contributes to sweating. Again, bottle cozy would most likely solve this problem. A bottle filled with ice water (1/2-3/4 full of ice, then filled with water) at ten is room-temperature by 1.

-They do dent rather easily. I crashed my bike on my way home from class one day and put massive dents in both bottles, but again this is a price paid when using thinner aluminum to cut down on bulk.

Overall, these are good water bottles that are well worth the incidental problems. Having said that, I will not be purchasing more as I replace the ones that were casualties of the crash because of the irritating twist top.

Bottle’s nice, very durable.Fits in cup holders well. Good hand grips. Main issue is- the cap is plastic and the rings on the inside of the bottle are steel. So when you screw it in it cuts into the plastic ridges and eventually it gets harder and harder close the cap cause the ridges get warped and the plastic starts to curl and flake off. Also takes like three days for smells to come off the bottle:(
